About 'Abstracts 2016', from Brandon:
"Abstracts" are three watercolor pieces from a series of paintings I did this year wherein I employed the age old technique of spilling paint, letting it dry and finding the galaxies that already live therein. I had no concept of what I was painting while I was working, but more following an aesthetic intuition in little bursts of energy.

August 30, 2016: Brandon has been working on a collection with Ali Grace Jewelry for the past few months. The project has been hush hush, until now!
About the collaboration:
The collaboration came about through their appreciation for the art of handmade creations and connection with California. Each piece of jewelry is hand sculpted by the duo. Ali’s placement of the hidden diamonds and charms provides a curious, unexpected detail while Brandon’s painterly qualities are brought forth in the intricate linework on the designs.
The jewelry reflects a hybrid of the West and East Coasts. Elements such as crystals and sandalwood are a reflection of California nature while the metals represent the urban environment of New York City. By using a matte finish on the metals, connectivity between inspirations from both coasts is achieved. The matte, imperfect finish allows the metal to take on a feeling similar to sand at the beach.
While the jewelry is a men’s collection, both Ali and Brandon envision women donning the designs as well. Each piece is to be loved and worn at the beach and in the city.

May 2011: Brandon's Mural on Display at LACMA Artwalk
As most of you know, Brandon recently collaborated with his long time friends at Hurley creating a set of t-shirt designs with a very specific intention of his choosing - to raise awareness about single use plastics and their detrimental effect on our oceans. Raise awareness it did, particularly when he chose to bring the designs to a larger than life scale, painting three 10 feet high walls of the Hurley gallery, )( Space, over the course of two weeks. As his first time painting a mural the task was both daunting and highly rewarding, and showcased three designs: a “water bottle island”, a “garbage pail whale” and a concentric group of circles reminding the audience that we shoulder these problems, and responsibilities, together. A profound message seamed each piece of the mural together and flowed through his line work on the walls like a wave itself, ‘We Are an Island, We are a beautiful island…’ These words extracted from Brandon’s poem that appears on the inside of the t-shirts and reads:
We are an island
And whether by luck or misfortune
We have nowhere else to go
We are a beautiful island
But we are misguided and off course
Demand clean energy!
Ban single use plastics!
Protect our island,
And give Hope to our children’s children.
Leave the island better than you found it.
Part of the mural will be on display this Saturday at LACMA Artwalk, so if you didn't catch it at Hurley, now is a time to check it out. Look for other pieces of the mural to travel in the future as well...
February 2011: For Immediate Release: Hurley announces fashion and art collaboration with Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd to benefit H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everywhere)
Costa Mesa, CA., (February 22, 2011) Iconic surf brand Hurley announces collaboration with musician, artist and activist Brandon Boyd, lyricist and lead singer of the band Incubus, on an exclusive art-inspired fashion collection benefiting H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everywhere).
Brandon Boyd's life is characterized by self-expression -- a fusion of art, music, writing, activism and surfing. A multi-talented visual artist who works in a variety of mediums, Boyd took to his sketchbook for this project. His watercolor and ink drawings result inimagery that is both beautiful and subtly stirring. These designs are featured on the Hurley collaboration shirts.
"My relationship with Hurley began over a decade ago and was born of a mutual appreciation for surfing, music, art and like minds. We have done projects together in the past but it seemed like it was time we truly put our collective heads together to make a real dent in a situation that affects us all, most importantly the swiftly growing problems in our oceans. We start herein as surfers and musicians, and are moving forward as stewards of our Island," says Boyd about his longstanding relationship with Hurley and his mission behind the creative collaboration.
A portion of the sales from the limited edition collection, available at Buckle nationwide, specialty retailers and online at Hurley.com beginning April 15, 2011, will benefit H.O.P.E., a 501(c)3 non-profit focused on involving artists and their contributions in campaigns, programs and events to support existing social projects that promote education and peace around the world.
"Brandon is the epitome of the Hurley brand making him a perfect partner for us," says Greg Teal, Music and Entertainment Marketing Manager at Hurley. "He's not only a talented musician and artist, but also a lover of surfing who champions ocean-related causes, something that is very important to us here at Hurley."
Hurley will celebrate the launch of the Brandon Boyd collection with an art show featuring the original works the collection is based upon. Boyd will paint a mural on a wall of the Hurley )( Space gallery for the show. April 2010: TOMS Shoes Debuts a Collaborative Canvas Collection
TOMS Shoes Debuts a Collaborative Canvas Collection Featuring Brandon Boyd and Kristin Jai Klosterman at Undefeated.
TOMS Shoes is pleased to announce a collaboration featuring the art of Brandon Boyd and Kristin Klosterman. Hand painted canvases, one by each artist and one collaborative, will be used to create a limited run of TOMS Shoes.
Longtime friends Brandon Boyd (Incubus) and Kristin Klosterman were moved by the One for One movement, and welcomed the opportunity to partner with TOMS. A total of 75 pairs of shoes will be produced, 25 from each canvas. Undefeated will join forces with TOMS as the exclusive seller of the collection.
"Kristin and I finished these massive canvases after a few days work and were both proud and depressed simultaneously. Proud because we had put our hearts into something fun and worthy, and depressed because it was going to be cut up into hundreds of pieces! Though, now that we are done I am excited to see the end result. And I am happy to have worked with TOMS Shoes on something so necessary and poignant" says artist, Brandon Boyd.
Founder and Chief Shoe Giver of TOMS, Blake Mycoskie says, “Art and creativity have always been important to TOMS. We often encourage customers to use paints and markers to create custom TOMS for themselves or friends, and we bring white canvas TOMS on US Shoe Drops for the kids to draw on. Using a raw canvas that is hand-painted pre-production, however, is a totally new and exciting concept for us. Brandon and Kristin have created 3 really amazing pieces, and we can’t wait to share this creative collection with the world.”
Leading up to the September 26 launch event, eight pairs of shoes will be on display at Undefeated stores in Silverlake, Santa Monica, La Brea and Las Vegas. The shoes will go on sale the night of the event at 7pm.
